It's all in the eyes... by cricketumpire It's all in the eyes... by cricketumpire

“To be honest, owls aren’t the brightest of birds, amazing as they are; parrots and crows are much smarter.  It’s all in the eyes: those

magnificent piercing optics are what make all owls look like they are deep in concentrated scrutiny and steeped in long-lost knowledge.”

This is stare of a bird, that means business. I've never seen an owl with such beautiful coloration.

The reflections  :?     He was displaying for an owl rescue charity on a market stall. The leaflets and charity novelties reflected noticeably in his eyes.
Just don't look too closely...   Oh geez...

Yes, a Eurasian Eagle Owl (Bubo bubo).  A totally wonderful creature and easy to capture on film (do we still say that?), including that 'frown'      Owly Thank You

I love owls: there's a place where they cure and free birds once healed, they usually do a big release event in July and I always try to attend, with or without friends!
I absolutely agree! :D

Coincidentally, the Eagle Owl was sitting on a market stall run by an owl rescue charity in Yorkshire. They allowed me to take the photograph in return for a small donation and asked for a copy that I duly e-mailed. Flatteringly, having seen it, they asked if they could use it for their publicity material    Super Flewus
