Secure but not safe...

I nearly stepped on this female pheasant whilst taking another photograph by a stream in Yorkshire. I was within three feet when I first spotted her and she never moved a muscle. It's incredible just how well the camouflage works as she sat on her nest between the roots of a tree in deep shade. A compete contrast with the showy male pheasant!
